John grew up in Clinton, CT where from the age of 12 he worked at a boat yard every day after school, weekends and summers. He was mentored by the owner, and knew early on that he wanted to own his own business when he grew up.

In the 9th grade John launched a car detailing business, that in college grew into Details Inc., a professional yacht detailing business, which he operated full time with crews in two Connecticut towns through his college years. John studied business with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Marketing and graduated from Quinnipiac College in 1989.  John later founded Strategic Design Group Inc., the business that would eventually evolve into Connecticut Sign Service, LLC in 1997.

John continues to place a priority on his relationships with both employees and customers, working with medium and large companies to create and execute their brand identification sign programs throughout New England.

John lives in Old Lyme with his wife and two daughters and enjoys camping, boating and skiing and is an active member of his church.
